Amazon Merch on Demand – Keyword and Rules Program Manager

Amazon Merch-on-Demand is a fast-growing, multi-million-dollar on-demand printing service for graphic apparel and printable products.

In this role, I’m responsible for creating rules coverage and managing all keyword and image-based detection to protect Amazon’s business against escalations and high risk events, copyright infringement, and offensive and illegal content. I’m also responsible for brand protection and brand partner onboarding, using various internal and external tools, including SQL.

I run policy meetings for a team of 15 content operation investigators and am the go-to point person for all keyword and rules related inquiries. I’m responsible for driving improvement in our content automation, infringement defect and true positive metrics.

I keep up with current events, risk alerts and marketplace trends to protect our customers and content creators in the US, Europe and Japan. This includes political, sporting and high risk events, as well as pop culture trends.

Previously, I also handled German localization and translation requests for our content and policy pages.

“Jen was an absolute pleasure to work with. We hired her for two projects where she demonstrated great skills in both world building and story creation. She always came prepared to meetings and her research and creative ideas helped propel our projects forward. It is clear she is passionate about storytelling and her determination is infectious.”

Laurent Zeitoun & Gregory Ouanhon
Chief Creative & Executive Officers

GOOD HERO – Story Developer

Good Hero is a creative studio nurturing, producing and licensing original content. Their team has developed and produced films including The Death of Stalin, The Intouchables, Up, Brave, and Inside Out.

As a story developer, I collaborated with award-winning producers, top executives, professional screenwriters and other experts in their field. I was privy to writer’s room pitch sessions and various phases of development.

I played a significant role in the writing, research and world-building of unique story worlds for two of their upcoming film & TV projects.

UCLA Extension — Feature Film Writing Program

UCLA Extension is the continuing education division of the University of California, Los Angeles.

As a UCLA Feature Film program graduate, I successfully completed this renowned, two-year screenwriting program with distinction. Courses are taught by film industry professionals, and included Feature Film Writing I–IV, Crafting Powerful Dialogue & Script Doctoring.

During the program, I wrote a 90-page feature-length spec script Lost in Berlin — a coming-of-age indie drama. I also workshopped several other projects, including The Mountain, 100 Days and Ruidoso Downs.

Bigfoot Script Challenge — Green Room Fellow

The Bigfoot Green Room is a year-long writing program for Northwest screenwriters to hone their creative instincts and problem-solving skills.

I was chosen twice as a participant and fellow in 2020 & 2022.

In this program, we pitched project ideas, developed new story concepts, reviewed scripted pages, and discussed each other’s coverage and feedback.

The Bigfoot Script Challenge is affiliated with SIFF, the Northwest Screenwriter’s Guild and the Seattle Film Summit.

Bigfoot Script Challenge — Web & WordPress Guru

As a volunteer, I also ran Bigfoot’s website, which included web maintenance, content updates and sending out newsletters.

“Jen impressed me with her WordPress skills and proactive attitude. She was eager to take on new challenges and always delivered. Her duties at Bigfoot spanned from website maintenance to content updates, to drafting and formatting copy, to gathering images and sending out newsletters. Her efforts were instrumental in helping us lead the next phase of socially-conscious filmmaking in the Pacific Northwest. Jen has a bright future in the entertainment industry. Any organization would be lucky to have her, and I can’t wait to see what Jen does next!”

Jeremy J. Dodd / Co-Founder of Bigfoot Entertainment LLC

“Jen has been a wonderful resource and big part of The Bigfoot Script Challenge, helping with website updates and developing content for the contest. She has also been a fantastic Green Room Fellow and provides excellent feedback for her fellow screenwriters in the group. She’s organized, timely and clear in her communication, and a pleasure to work with. I appreciate her positive attitude and excellent sense of humor. She’s a great writer and a genuinely great person!”

Heather Pilder Olson / Lead of the Bigfoot Green Room

Zum Goldenen Hirschen — PR Consultant

Zum Goldenen Hirschen is a Berlin-based creative agency that develops targeted and disruptive media campaigns in the advertising world.

As a PR consultant, my responsibilities ranged from managing social media channels, to translating press releases, to liaising with influencers, artists and bloggers.

I also conducted extensive campaign research, organized press clippings and participated in on-location video shoots. Clients included VW, Mc Fitti, Lightcycle and Hotels.com.

Kindle Direct Publishing / Amazon – Content Risk Manager

Kindle Direct Publishing is an e-book self-publishing platform that feeds into Kindle — Amazon’s e-reading device.

As content risk manager at KDP, I managed a small account management team responsible for safeguarding our e-book catalog.

This involved mitigating bad actor behavior and enforcing copyright infringements to make Kindle Direct Publishing a safe platform for all of our users (readers, authors & customers).

In this role, I was responsible for handling time-sensitive escalations, writing corrective behavior documentation and using data to drive tool and procedural changes.

Freelance
Copywriter, Editor & Translator

I’ve written, edited and translated many projects for a diverse group of individual and business clients, including Get Your Guide, Plum Guide, haubrok foundation, and Artists & Angels. Projects ranged widely from creative proposals and personal statements, to master’s theses, gallery exhibition texts and scientific research papers.

“Jennifer has done a tremendous job helping me with the literary editing of a presentation for one of the artistic projects I am working on. Not only was she extremely fast with editing, but she also provided thorough and valuable input for my work that helped me understand any shortcomings of the presentation. I am extremely happy and grateful to Jen for this cooperation.”

Lara Kempbell
Founder of Artists & Angels

“While my professional reading and writing skills in German are quite good, I really needed help with speaking German in casual settings. I’ve been meeting with Jen for conversational German lessons for over a year, and she’s been a great help. She is a patient, engaged tutor, not to mention lots of fun to talk to! Not only have I learned a lot of important phrases I would never have found in a dictionary, I’m also more confident when I speak and less inclined to make silly mistakes out of nervousness. I would definitely recommend her to anyone interested in improving their German conversational skills.”

Dr. Alissa Jones Nelson

“Jen was a tremendous help in person, on the phone and in writing, when I needed German language assistance with various government authorities. “Assistance” is putting it lightly since I have almost zero German skills. Thank you for the great efforts, Jen!”

Niko Peltoranta
Business Development Manager

“At the last minute I had a translation emergency in a real estate situation, and Jen made herself immediately available. She was punctual, prepared and professional. Not only did she provide quality translation, she was also diplomatic and made everyone in the room feel comfortable.”

Melissa R.
Author and Head of Strategy smarterGerman

“In the cultural sector, especially in fine arts, translating texts from German to English and vice versa can be a real challenge – often, words have crucial connotations that they do not have outside of the art world. This is why translations have to be not only correct, but they also have to be contextually sensitive. And Jen is rock-solid in both. We always enjoyed working with her and will continue to do so in the future.”

Konstantin Haubrok
Head of Communications Haubrok Foundation

Jederzeit gerne wieder!”

25 North is Northern Colorado’s premier regional lifestyle magazine, an affiliate of The Coloradoan newspaper.

As an editorial assistant, I wrote news articles, conducted phone and in-person interviews, and did extensive research for informational sidebars.

I also designed creative spreads using Adobe PageMaker and QuarkXPress.

“Jen was one of the most talented, hard-working young journalists, I had the pleasure of welcoming to our team. She was eager to learn all about all aspects of the industry and aptly took on the roles of copy editor, page designer, fact-checker, reporter and writer. Due in large part to Jen’s attention-to-detail and knowledge of Associated Press, I was confident anything she edited or wrote would be professional and accurate.”

Kathy Lee Strickland / Editor-in-Chief

Mountaineers Books — Editorial Assistant

Mountaineers Books is the nation’s leading independent publisher of outdoor recreation, lifestyle, and conservation books.

Under the direction of the Editor-in-Chief, I was responsible for managing a large volume of unsolicited manuscript submissions each day — which I reviewed and summarized for further consideration.

I was in close contact with authors, literary agents and the rest of the editorial staff. I also conducted fact-checking, research, indexing and editing of our cooking and hiking guides.

“Jen quickly established herself as an invaluable support to the editorial staff here. She is bright, capable, and articulate, showed obvious enthusiasm for our products, and was unfazed by our often chaotic workplace environment. Her duties involved manuscript evaluations, fact checking and research, indexing, and general administrative tasks, all of which she performed with alacrity and intelligence. Jen was particularly good at evaluating unsolicited book proposals, providing us with insightful and honest reader reports.”
